Anchorage and Bethel Alaska

These shots are near Anchorage. My friend and client Chris Landry and I spent an afternoon (which lasts until about 1am) filming some broll of the area south of Anchorage and I was able to get a few shots in with my 5D.

Here are two float planes in Bethel, AK. I thought they looked good in with the light.

We traveled by boat to a villiage upriver from Bethel called Kwethluk. I had a few minutes to walk around the village and catch some local kids playing with one of the kids in our group.

Thanksgiving 2017

For me the best part of national holidays is that the roads are empty, people are at home not working, and the energy in towns and cities is completely different than normal. I was bored so I went for a walk and tried to be creative.

The Gambia

In the beginning of June I travelled to The Gambia for a malaria relief and prevention film. Along the way I was able to capture a few images featured below.

This guy was using our truck to tow him around town. As soon as he saw me taking his picture through the rear-view mirror he smiled and waved.

I was lucky enough to film the new president of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, and take his photo. The room we were in was not that interesting but it was fun to meet a president in person for the first time.

The fish market was amazing. Unfortunately we were quickly trying to get a few more broll shots for the film right before my flight, so I only had a couple minutes to get a few shots before we rushed back to the office to pack and head to Dakar.

Chivas Serenade

Here are a few shots I was able to sneak in while filming at the Serenade for Chivas. Chivas are the Mexican soccer team representing Guadalajara who are challenging the Tigers from Monterrey in the Mexican La Liga Finals. Click on the images to open them full screen. "Facepaint"

On the 29th of March, 2017, Shannon Kelly, makeup artist Mariam Marand and I collaborated on an image for Happy Abandon's new album cover: "Facepaint." Eliza, the band manager's daughter, sat in my small studio patiently while makeup artist Mariam from Raleigh painted her face for over two hours. The process involved applying the texture to her face, drying it with a blowdryer, then applying another layer of texture. Once the textured foundation was complete the colored paint was brushed onto the canvas and we began shooting. Below are a few shots which document the process.

The whole day Eliza had a stoic look on her face which worked well for the final shot. But we realized she actually couldn't do much else with her face because the paint was so stiff and constricting.
